ABD: Artificial Beauty Disorder
This series is an exploration of 21st-century feminist aesthetics through conceptual photographic portraits of women. These artworks seek to disrupt the unrealistic representations of women promoted in media, considering digital photography is the primary instrument shaping cultural attitudes towards female beauty. Research suggests employing beauty to distort the human female form is aggressive to the female identity. The metaphorical narrative underlying this series considers the perversion of beauty in the 21st century and the rejection and disfiguration of females natural beauty.
